Folk Art 1930s Cement Bust

$0.00

For sale is a neat bust of a man made out of cement. Dates to the 1930s or 1940s. A friend suggested it might represent a WW1 solider but I think its just a man with a button down shirt. I got it from a collector out west but the dealer he got it from found it in Ohio years ago. Might be an Ohio piece of folk art. Definitely lots of cement factories here then and lots of end of day pottery pieces being made here as well. This worker might have drawn inspiration from one of them.

Either way I love it. It commands lots of attention and has a good presence about it. Reminds me of the objects in American Primitive: Discoveries in Folk Sculpture.

8 and 3/4 inches tall.

Condition: Nice condition. Some in making separation here and there but nothing structural wrong or really noticeable. Only real flaw is a small flake off of the nose but it might have been in the making as well. No repairs. No chunks missing. No cracks. See photos to determine condition.
