Antique Folk Art African American Carved Bust Mid To Late 1800s

Up for sale is a neat antique wood carved bust. This folk art piece depicts an African American man. Probably carved by an African American since its not done in some stereotypical way. The carving is very well done. Looks to date from the 1860s-1890s. Great surface and good base wear and oxidation to the base. Hard wood. Not super heavy but heavier and denser than pine. I believe it might be walnut. Looks to have a similar grain. Definitely not a balsa wood.

I believe it to be American made. Came from a long time dealers collection in SW Ohio.

A little less than 9 inches tall. Good size and presence on a shelf.

Commands attention.

Condition: Nice condition. No chunks missing. No repairs. All original. Great patina. Best possible surface. Has numerous age / drying splits or cracks but the piece is super stable. Does not wiggle if you try to move it. See photos and video to determine condition.
